Ice. Paint. Passion. At age twenty-five, Toller was living in coach Ellen Burka’s basement. He was competing with the best in the world, winning medals, and painting with every minute he could squeeze out of a day. This picture speaks volumes about artistry, focus, precision, technique, and creative vision. It’s from Canadian Skater magazine, 1974, two years before Toller’s Olympic bronze in Innsbruck.

The Art of Toller Cranston (1948–2015)
Toller International is proud to lead the development of a comprehensive Catalogue Raisonné dedicated to the visual art of Toller Cranston (1948–2015).
This important initiative seeks to assemble a complete and authoritative record of all known artworks by Cranston. The goal is to create a carefully researched, fully documented, and publicly accessible resource that will serve scholars, collectors, institutions, and admirers of his work for generations to come.
Although internationally celebrated for his groundbreaking achievements in figure skating, Cranston sustained a prolific and deeply committed career as a visual artist. His paintings reveal the same theatricality, imagination, and expressive intensity that defined his presence on the ice. This Catalogue Raisonné aims to document the full arc of that creative legacy — from early explorations to mature works — reflecting the breadth and depth of his artistic vision.
